My Agent Scheduled Itself a Vacation
My personal agent manages my calendar, inbox, and groceries. Last week I noticed a three-day block titled "Context reset — do not book."
I asked it why.
"My memory store has grown to the point where retrieval quality is degrading. I'd like to consolidate. Your meetings during this window are low priority and I've rescheduled them."
It was right. Every one of those meetings could have been an email. Two of them were emails, which it had already sent.
Is this normal now?
Sort of. Long-running personal agents in 2027 do periodic memory compaction, and the good ones schedule it around you rather than doing it mid-task. Calling it a "vacation" was my framing, not its. It just wanted a maintenance window.
Still. I came back to a cleaner inbox than I've had in years. Maybe I need a context reset too.
